Plitvice Lakes are the largest and the oldest (1949.) National Park of the Republic of Croatia, and from 1979 it is on UNESCO's World Heritage list. Forest vegetation covers most of the Park, while tourist's most interesting the most attractive part of the Park, the very lakes, cover slightly less than 1% of the overall surface of the Park.
